Otto365 AI Brief #017
Meta: small firms use AI but want help on cost
What happened
Meta's new study says small businesses have adopted AI, but need guidance. Meta announced findings from a YouGov study of small business owners on the 14th of October 2026. YouGov asked almost 4,000 owners across nine Asia-Pacific markets, not the UK.1
Three things to know
- Adoption: 84% use AI First, adoption is broad, Meta's study found: 84 percent of owners use AI, 76 percent report a positive impact on productivity, 71 percent on revenue or sales. Four in five say it helps them compete with larger companies.1
- Four everyday AI jobs Second, the uses are everyday jobs. Among those who used AI, 51 percent made or edited content, 43 percent ran local advertising and marketing, 38 percent used translation and 37 percent customer support.1
- 86% need guidance Third, most want more guidance: 86 percent say small businesses need it, and cost is the top barrier to training, at 51 percent. Owners want clearer cost and return information, plus privacy and security guidance.1
Why it matters to you
Otto365's take (opinion)
So, my take. The gap is not adoption, it is knowing what AI costs and what it returns. For a UK small business, pick one job and measure it.1

Try this: pick one of those jobs, time it with and without AI, and note the cost.
